Policies

Coffee Policy

We will provide, at no additional cost, coffee in the mornings. Adults should bring an empty cup with a lid and we will fill it with your choice of beverage. We will be happy to provide your choice of dairy or non-dairy creamer upon request, a variety of sweeteners, coffees, and teas. We have a milk frother and will have drip brewed coffee throughout the morning. We will also provide French Pressed coffee upon request.

Drop Off/Pick Up

Children are to be signed in and out of the school every time they are dropped off or picked up. Children will only be released to people who are pre-authorized by the guardians. Children who are picked up after 5:35 PM without prior authorization by the director will be subject to an additional fee of $10 for every 10 minutes (or fraction thereof).

Dress Code and Clothes

Children are to arrive at the school dressed to learn. This means that each child should wear closed toed shoes (high heels and flip flops are unacceptable). Children are also encouraged to get dirty in the pursuit of learning, so please don’t send children in their nice clothes. If they have a special activity that you would like them to be presentable for after school, please advise our staff at drop off. We request that children be provided with one appropriately sized sweater or jacket for wearing inside. My home was built to be cool even in summer.

In case of a complete mess or an accident, children will be changed into their spare clothing and the messy clothes will be washed at the school and used to replace their spare outfit. Clothes washed at the school will be cleaned in scent and dye free detergent.

We are also a low scent environment. I am allergic to many scents, so I request that families avoid an abundance of perfumes.

Food

Parents are to provide a nutritious lunch, which will be stored in our fridge. We will provide three snacks per day, two in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each snack will have components from at least two food groups.

**In case of food allergies, you may be asked to eliminate certain items from lunches and I will eliminate them from snacks. This is essential in helping to keep our environment safe. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.**

Children will be allowed to exchange tastes of their food with fellow students in order to encourage developing their negotiation skills and a well rounded pallet. Please do not send children with a dessert other than fresh fruit as this can be extremely disruptive.

Tuition

Tuition is due on the 1st of every month. After the 5th there will be an additional late fee of $25. Please make checks payable to Jaime Burnell. Tuition is non-refundable. If tuition is not paid by the 15th of the month without prior arrangement with the director, students will not be allowed to return to school.

Parents’ Night Out

Occasionally we will open for a few hours on the weekend for an additional small fee. This is designed to provide caregivers additional time to relax or get caught up on tasks. The dates, fees, and times will be posted on the calendar above the sign in binder. Because siblings are welcome and we have a limited number of spots, we recommend signing up and paying the fee to hold your spot as early as possible.

Illness

Children who have vomited, had diarrhea, unexplained rash, or a fever over 100 degrees within the past 24 hours will not be allowed at school. We know that you won’t be able to keep them home for every sniffle, but if they’re too sick to participate in activities children will be sent home.

Children with conjunctivitis (pink-eye), head lice, or other communicable diseases will be required to stay home until they are no longer contagious.

Medications

Children taking any medication at school require the following:

  1. A fully completed medical form. A copy of the form will be provided to you as part of your original paperwork, and a copy can also be found here.
  2. Medications must be in the original container with the instructions intelligible.
  3. Medications will not be administered after they expire.

Discipline

Every person is worthy of respect and compassion, and we expect our staff to show this in each interaction. When possible, children will be encouraged to continue what they’re doing in a safe fashion (for example, if they are throwing things we will redirect them to throw the right things in a safe place). If a student is a danger to themselves or others they will be separated from the other children until they are calm.

If children are unresponsive to the above methods, we may call to request an emergency pick up.

We reserve the right to terminate contracts for any reason. We understand that childcare is necessary for families to survive, so we will make every effort to avoid this when possible and provide adequate notice.
